Enterprising Mum Saves Parents’ Skins in time for World Book Day

Updated: Jun 12, 2018

An enterprising Mum has launched a new versatile dress-up product just in time for World Book Day for stressed out parents whose children want to go to school dressed as their favourite Minecraft character aka ‘skin’.

The product a Box Head by BoxHead Craft is based on the incredibly popular Minecraft game and enables children to design, decorate and wear a Box Head for fancy dress and imaginative play.

It all started late one evening when Guildford Mum Ruth Stone was frantically creating an outfit for her son for World book Day. Frank, an avid Minecraft fan, wanted to go as a character from his Minecraft Book and Ruth had to make do with the only box she could find.

“In the morning Frank was really pleased with what I’d done but did point out the box was not a perfect cube so there was room for improvement. I searched online to see if a blank box head was available commercially but it wasn’t so I set about designing and developing my own.”

Ruth soft launched the product on etsy.com and has sold Box Heads to mums in America and been favourited by people in France, Germany and Australia. Now the product is on eBay and Amazon and sales from the UK have been secured. The BoxHead Craft Box Heads cost £10 each and also retail in party packs of 10 for £80.
